The Student Research Experience program provides opportunities for students to engage in an educational research activity during their candidature.
There are two types of awards.
1. Short-Term Research Experience.
a. For students to experience research on biofilms during major academic breaks between the 2nd and final year of their undergraduate degree.
b. Projects will be 1 to 3 months long and are a voluntary education activity, not a work placement or employment.
c. The allowance is of $1,200 per month, tax free to a maximum of $3,600.
d. Students should have successfully completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree program.
2. Research project concurrent with study.
a. To support and encourage students to undertake a biofilm-related project as part of their study program, e.g. major honours project, major masters project or engineering final year project.
b. Projects will be of 1 or 2 semester duration with full time equivalent enrolment.
c. The allowance is $2,500 per semester with a maximum of $5,000.
Students will further their learning under the supervision of an ARC BRIC Academic member. It is an opportunity to progress and apply their degree-specific knowledge, whilst developing valuable research and professional capabilities.
Students will take the project between their second and third year, third year and Honours or Honours and Higher Degree Research programs
