The Acting PM and Minister for Defence, Richard Marles, visited the Tonsley innovation precinct with the Member for Boothby, Louise Miller-Frost MP – B App Sc, MA, MPH, MBA, FAICD. At the Maritime Engineering lab, Professor Karl Sammut and Dr Thomas Chaffre demonstrated an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle being developed for open-sea ship hull inspection. This is a collaborative ARC Training Centre for Biofilm Research & Innovation project conducted together with Franmarine Underwater Services Pty Ltd. Engineering students Tom and Victoria discussed their experience of the University’s new nuclear engineering courses on offer – including a new US exchange program at the University of Rhode Island.
